PRESENTATION

Among homemade preparations, tuna sauce is undoubtedly one of the most beloved, thanks to its tasty flavor, irresistible creaminess, and above all, the simplicity of the recipe. Enjoy it as an appetizer on toasted bread, as an accompaniment to the typical Vitello Tonnato or use it as a tasty filling for tuna stuffed tomatoes. With a handful of ingredients, including hard-boiled eggs, capers, anchovies, and canned tuna expertly mixed, a few spins of the blender blades will create an inviting and versatile sauce.

How to prepare Tuna Sauce

To prepare the tuna sauce, start by making the meat broth. Then, cook the eggs: in a small pot, place the fresh eggs in cold water (enough to cover them) 1, then turn on the heat and, from the point of boiling, cook for 9 minutes. Once ready, cool them under running cold water before peeling. Then cut them into 4 parts 2 3. Desalt the capers by rinsing them thoroughly under running water.

In a jug, place the hard-boiled eggs, drained anchovies in oil, desalted capers 4, and drained tuna 5. Finally, add a part of the prepared broth 6

Blend with an immersion blender and add more broth as needed 7. You should obtain a smooth, lump-free cream 8. Serve the tuna sauce with some caper berries 9.

Storage

The tuna sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for one day.

We do not recommend freezing.

Tip

If you want to add mayonnaise, we recommend reducing the amount of hard-boiled eggs.
