Lorenzo Cogo
Lorenzo Cogo, born in 1986, was Italy's youngest Michelin-starred chef for four years. His last name, in the Venetian dialect, means "cook": a name, a destiny. After starting his career at a very young age in the kitchens of his homeland, he decided to work around the world: Australia, Japan, Denmark, England, and finally Spain, in the best restaurants of those times. His travels greatly shaped him, especially his character. In 2011, at the age of 24, he decided to return home to his province of Vicenza and open his restaurant, El Coq. At just 25 years old, one year after opening, he earned the coveted Michelin star. His cuisine is still technical and "instinctive": it starts from the territory and the excellence of small local producers to reach directly to the palate and the heart. For everyone, the El Coq restaurant is synonymous with tradition, land, culture, but also creativity, internationality, and passion. Since 2016, the restaurant has been located inside the “Caffè Garibaldi” in Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza: the perfect stage to continue showcasing his high culinary performance.
